Successful completion of this certificate will assist your application into one of the Level 5 diplomas in Art and Design, Fashion or Screen Production, or the Bachelor of Creative Practice.

Outline

This programme has ‘real life’ opportunities with projects in a variety of arts disciplines. It will introduce you to the bigger picture of the creative sector and how it operates both locally in Aotearoa New Zealand and globally.

As a graduate of this qualification you will be able to:

  • Apply a variety of introductory skills and techniques in art, design and fashion.
  • Apply creative processes and techniques to solve problems in response to a brief.
  • Demonstrate introductory work practices in the creative arts, and explore potential education and employment pathways.
  • Collaborate with others, and reflect on, select and present work.

The NZ Certificate in Arts and Design (Level 4) can lead you to apply for entry into the Level 5 diplomas in Arts and Design, Fashion or Screen Production, or the Bachelor of Creative Practice.

The portfolio content completed during the programme can be used to support an application for further study or look for an entry level job in New Zealand’s fastest growing industry.

Scholarships

EIT | Te Pūkenga offers a variety of scholarships across various subjects and programme levels.  Some scholarships are based on your age, some are specific to the subject you want to study.  Not all scholarships are based on your academic ability and anyone wanting to study should investigate what scholarships are available to them.  

You can find a list of EIT | Te Pūkenga scholarships here however there are many more scholarships offered nationally.  Information about these is on an database called “givME”. givME is accessible at EIT | Te Pūkenga or at some public libraries.
