Ryman Healthcare - Sir James Wattie Scholarship
Ryman Healthcare has generously offered a $15,000 scholarship in perpetuity, in the honour of the significant contribution that Sir James Wattie has made to the Hawke’s Bay economy through his entrepreneurship and philanthropy. Ryman Healthcare specifies that the scholarship be awarded to a business student, who has achieved a high academic standard, is in at least the second year of full time study, has made considerable adjustment in their lives in order to pursue their studies despite the challenges this has imposed, and whose life will significantly be changed through this scholarship.
Criteria
1. The award is open to students who are enrolled in a degree programme or post graduate studies in Business Studies at the Hawke’s Bay EIT campus.
2. Recipients who hold other grants or awards may apply.
3. The recipient should be in at least their second year of study and completed 120 credits at year one for degree programmes, or two terms for postgraduate studies.
4. Be a New Zealand citizen and/or a permanent resident who has resided in New Zealand for at least the previous two years. Applicants must live in Hawke’s Bay.
5. Demonstrated an outstanding level of academic achievement during their studies at EIT to date.
6. The recipient agrees to Ryman Healthcare and EIT publishing an article about the recipient in their respective promotional material, to be an Ambassador and to participate in any reasonable amount of marketing and promotional activities.
Your personal history, financial needs, academic record particularly in terms of effort and achievement, and plans will be taken into account. The funds are to be used for educational purposes or living expenses. If the recipient drops out of the programme, or breaches academic integrity, the scholarship will need to be returned proportionally.

The Faculty Dean’s Study Abroad Scholarship
While studying towards your Bachelor of Computing Systems degree, spend a semester in Germany with the Faculty Dean’s Study Abroad Scholarship.
Apply now for exchange study in Germany.
Applications can be submitted one semester before the intended Study Abroad semester. Up to two scholarships will be awarded each academic year.
Applicants notified within two months, depending on the intended year/semester of Study Abroad.
Future Tech Scholarship- in partnership with Trust Tairāwhiti
Overview:
EIT Tairāwhiti (in partnership with Trust Tairāwhiti) is offering scholarships for students enrolling in the Bachelor of Computing Systems in 2027. We welcome applications from learners who demonstrate a strong interest in innovative technology fields such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics and Drone Technology. This scholarship is designed to support aspiring technology leaders who are eager to explore how cutting-edge technologies can solve real-world challenges and contribute to the future of our region.
Scholarship Value and structure:
- Total value: $9,000 (undergraduate)
- Number of scholarships available: Up to 3
- Payment structure: One-off sum, offset against course fees
- Duration: One-off support, focused on helping students successfully begin and complete their first year of the Bachelor of Computing Systems
- Covers: Course-related fees
Eligibility criteria:
- Applicants must be school students or recent school leavers who intend to enrol in the Bachelor of Computing Systems at EIT in 2027
- Priority may be given to students from Tairāwhiti, or with a strong connection to the Tairāwhiti region
- Applicants should meet EIT entry requirements for the Bachelor of Computing Systems, and demonstrate academic potential, motivation, and readiness to begin tertiary study in computing
- Full-time enrolment

Māori Master's Applied Technology Scholarship- in partnership with Trust Tairāwhiti
Overview:
EIT Tairāwhiti (in partnership with Trust Tairāwhiti) is offering a Master’s scholarship to support a student undertaking applied research in advanced technology areas such as artificial intelligence, robotics, drone technology, computer vision, and intelligent systems. This scholarship is designed to support a postgraduate learner who is interested in applying innovative technology to real-world regional challenges and contributing to the development of future technology capability in Tairāwhiti.
Scholarship Value and structure
- Total value: $14,000
- Number of scholarships available: 1
- Payment structure: To be confirmed
- Duration: Up to 12 months, aligned with the Master’s research or applied deployment project timeline
- Covers: Study-related and research-related costs
Eligibility criteria
- Applicants must be students of Māori descent who are eligible to enrol in a relevant EIT Master’s programme and undertake an applied project connected to advanced technology
- Priority may be given to students from Tairāwhiti, or with a strong connection to the Tairāwhiti region
- Applicants should meet EIT entry requirements for the relevant Master’s programme, and demonstrate strong academic capability and readiness for postgraduate-level research or applied project work
- Full-time enrolment
