Academic Learning Services

Welcome! Academic Learning Services is here to assist you on your journey towards the successful completion of your studies at EIT. Our aim is for you to become confident, competent and independent learners.

We have dedicated advisors who can assist with:

  • Academic reading
    • critical thinking, research, reading effectively
  • Academic writing
    • essays, reports, reflective writing, online forums, literature reviews, annotated bibliographies, short or long answer assignments
  • APA referencing and writing style
    • in text citations, reference lists, APA style conventions
  • Basic computing
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Study skills
    • memory, note-taking, learning styles, exam techniques
  • Oral presentations

  • Writing skills
    • paraphrasing, summarising, sentence structure, paragraph structure, grammar, punctuation

Appointments may be made for individuals or small groups.  Workshops are run at the beginning of every Semester.

Hawke's Bay Campus

The advisors for Hawke’s Bay campus are located in the Library.  Appointments may be made for individuals or small groups in one of the following four ways:

  •     In person: Request an appointment at the library service desk
  •     Complete a form: Forms are available from the library service desk or apply online

Learning Advisors usually need to be booked in advance.  If you think you will need assistance with some aspects of your course work then contact us early.  If you urgently need an appointment, complete a form and the Academic Services Assistant will endeavour to contact you within 24 hours.

We are available during the following hours:

Tairāwhiti Campus

The advisors for the Tairāwhiti campus are located in the Library and Learning Centre.  Appointments may be made for individuals or small groups.

To see an Information and Learning Advisor you may book an appointment at the Library service desk.  We are available the following hours:

Auckland Campus

External Examinations at EIT 

To arrange an external examination at EIT please contact:-

The service includes:-

  • Room bookings
  • Supervision
  • Exams kept in a secure location (lockable cabinet).
  • Return postage of the exam, usually same day service or next working day.
  • Where possible please provide a self-addressed (Pre-paid) courier bag with the examination.

After the exam we will organise an invoice that will be sent to the organisation or to the student depending on who is covering the cost.
