The Student Village (SV) is a self-catering complex of 12 villas housing six students in each. Both New Zealand and international students live together (mixed gender), and although each student has their own furnished bedroom, students share lounge, kitchen and bathroom facilities in each villa. The SV is a multi-cultural communal environment better suited to more independent students. It is a great environment to meet other students, study and relax together. The SV Managers also organise a BBQ in summer and resident sports activities at the start of the semester. The SV is located on campus and is next to the Sports Centre and bus stop. There are regular office hours, but as the Managers live on site, there are 24-hour support arrangements for resident students. The SV is $180 per week (plus a $200 bond) and includes:
- Single furnished bedroom
- Furnished kitchen and lounge
The SV includes a ‘Welcome pack’ – cutlery, plate, bowl, glass, cup and two instant meals.
It does not include:
- Bed linen, pillows or towels
International students who do not wish to bring their own bedding may purchase a bedding pack for $145. This includes a pillow, sheets, duvet, and duvet cover. Please indicate whether you require a bedding pack on your accommodation request form. Students may contract for two semesters (40 weeks) or one semester (20 weeks). Where the programme is shorter than one semester, the student may contract for the length of their enrolled programme (based on room availability). Contract termination or refunds will only be considered where there are substantial medical or personal grounds. Preference will be given to students requiring accommodation for the year (two semesters), and full details are included in the Student Village. Rooms fill fast so EIT can only secure rooms for students who have paid and returned their SV contract forms.
