Wairoa District Council are offering summer school internship or work learning programme placements.

Contact Wairoa District Council now about the availability of placement in Work Integrated Learning or internship programmes (some of which carry course credits).

We want to hear from students in:

  • Māori Studies
  • Graphic Design
  • Screen Production
  • Business Studies
  • Computing Studies
  • Tourism

Undertake research or practical work alongside the best of students from throughout New Zealand, and help make Wairoa district ‘the ultimate living environment’ .

The basis of these placements will be:

  1. Students must be willing to apply themselves full-time to a project for at least six weeks (preferably eight weeks) over the summer.
  2. Students who apply for these roles will be selected following vetting by their respective tertiary provider, and a live (or video) interview with Wairoa District Council panel.
  3. Successful students will volunteer their research skills on a pro bono basis.
  4. Each student will be allocated (at least) one defined project, so that successful completion will count towards summer school course credits (special project), internship requirements or work integrated leaning programme experience.
  5. Students may be supported by a contribution towards their accommodation costs.
