Te Kura Whakapiki Reo is hosted by Te Whatukura with the support of Toihoukura. 100 fluent speakers and practitioners of Te Reo Māori attend.

Bunyan’s Building and the Adventist Church property around the Palmerston and Cobden street corner are purchased. The church building gives a short-term solution to some of the current teaching space problems and houses the library while Taiararau is redesigned to accommodate more computers.
