Land on the same property as the vineyard, on the eastern side of the Waimata River, is developed as a commercial olive grove when around 885 olive trees were planted comprising of ten varieties. When the olives are pressed an award winning olive oil comes into commercial production under the progress marketing wing of the RSU department. Along with the wine label this new brand is known as “Waimata”.  A series of Olive Schools are hosted by RSU staff.
