Grow your career in horticulture
The purpose of this course is to provide the horticulture industry with individuals who have the skills and knowledge regarding soils and weather to assist with a range of core tasks relevant to a horticulture industry sector.
This qualification is ideal for people who may have some general experience, or have a desire to work, in the horticulture industry who want to develop their skills and knowledge in a specific horticultural industry sector.
During the length of this programme you will be involved in seasonal production tasks as they relate to the fruit production industry.
Graduates will be capable of working under limited supervision with responsibility for work outcomes and be able to carry out routine seasonal fruit production tasks.

Your future career and study opportunities
On successful completion you can pursue employment in:
- Contracting
- Pest management
- Fruit production
This qualification builds on the NZ Certificate in Primary Industry Skills (Level 2). On successful completion of the NZ Certificate in Horticulture (Fruit Production) (Level 3) you may choose to continue with your studies by enrolling in the:
- NZ Certificate in Horticulture Production (Fruit Production) (Level 4)

Scholarships
EIT | Te Pūkenga offers a variety of scholarships across various subjects and programme levels. Some scholarships are based on your age, some are specific to the subject you want to study. Not all scholarships are based on your academic ability and anyone wanting to study should investigate what scholarships are available to them.
You can find a list of EIT | Te Pūkenga scholarships here however there are many more scholarships offered nationally. Information about these is on an database called “givME”. givME is accessible at EIT | Te Pūkenga or at some public libraries.
