Piles of pyjamas for children in need

June 27, 2019

For the second time EIT joined the local charitable initiative “Jammies for June”. The initiative was started a few years ago by Gabby, a young mother through her Facebook page, “Out and About with Kids in Hawke’s Bay”.

The pyjamas are distributed by Gabby and the Healthy Homes Team at Hawke’s Bay District Health Board to Hawke’s Bay children.

AT EIT’s Auckland campus Bachelor of Business Studies graduate Julia Heinze rallied the staff gathering over $200 in donations, which she then converted into boxes of pyjamas delivered to the reprographics team last week.

Jodee Reid and the Beauty Team also supported the good cause. During the month of June she offered a 15 minute neck and shoulder massage in EIT’s Refresh Clinic in exchange for a donation (koha) or a pair of pyjamas. This raised a further $50 and added 16 pyjamas to the pile.

To date, the EIT family has collected 99 pairs of pyjamas to keep children warm and cosy. Because of the great response EIT has extended the collection for another week.
