Tomairangi Chaffey-Aupouri BA (Māori) Bachelor of Arts (Māori) graduate

What was the best thing about studying at EIT?

I liked that it was a family environment and a very close knitted family that really did relate to the mottos that EIT go by  I found that Te Whatukura became a home and not just somewhere that I went to study and my lecturers became family and they always will be and that is what I love about coming to EIT.

What was challenging while you were studying?

I lost my dad the year before I started studying and I went away to Waikato for a year to study and found it difficult and I came back and I thoroughly enjoyed studying at EIT. Other challenges were the usual student things like being on student allowance and car parking.

What are you looking forward to in the future?

I’m excited about changing Māori lives in NZ and being able to provide a platform for Māori people to know that they can achieve their goals and they can do better than some people say that they can.
