Jackie Irihuia Ham (Ngāti Porou, Rongomaiwahine, Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Ngāi Tūhoe, Ngā Puhi, Kāti Māmoe) who returns to us from Te Wānanga o Aotearoa where she taught the Level 7 Te Pīnakitanga ki te Reo Kairangi programme and other programmes since 2003. Jackie has also been a member of Te Ūranga Waka and Te Whatukura Advisory Group, external moderator and a strong supporter of our kura for many years. Jackie has worked in radio, as a translator, an actress in a range of te reo Māori productions and is a member, tutor and administrator of Pareārau Kapa Haka group and will be competing at Matatini in Christchurch this week representing Ngāti Kahungunu. She is also a graduate of the elite programme, Te Panekiretanga o te Reo Māori.
Tash Hau (Ngāti Wai) is a graduate of our BA Honours (Māori), mother of 4 and has a passion for creating resources for learning te reo Māori. Tash came to us from Flaxmere Primary School where she worked in the rūmaki reo class (total immersion te reo Māori). She has also worked on a research project for Kohupātiki marae as part of its centennial celebrations in 2013, and was an actress in the filming of a language project with Ngāti Kahungunu Iwi Inc and Radio Kahungunu to promote Māori idioms in 2013. Tash also taught on the Certificate in Māori Studies (Level 2) wānanga delivery to the Flaxmere community and teaching staff of Taikura last year.
