Scholarships Celebrated and Young Enterprise Scheme welcomed to EIT this week

March 5, 2014

On Thursday, we are celebrating success with Year 13 school leavers who have successfully secured an EIT scholarship for their first year of their degree. We have awarded 100 scholarships to students studying across 12 degrees at EIT Hawke’s Bay and EIT Tairawhiti in Gisborne.

These scholarships are a tangible way that EIT is playing its part in keeping our talented youth in the region.  Our aim is to help drive our future economy and to keep our community vibrant.

Each scholarship is worth approximately $5000 to each student.  Many students are also able to continue living at home with their families, and also maintain their part-time jobs.  All of this helps to defray the cost of study.

We are also excited to welcome the Chamber of Commerce and the Young Enterprise Scheme to campus on Friday.  154 senior high school students from six schools will get a crash course in how to best establish their companies from the Chamber, EIT teaching staff, and regional business mentors.
