Veteran cameraman teaches Screen Production

Veteran cameraman Peter Janes is focusing this year on teaching our Screen Production students.

He’s acquired a wide range of skills during a 40-year career in the television and filming industry.

Peter’s teaching camera and lighting while providing students with an overview of the industry.

He’s had a broad range of experiences including

  • Recording in the sound department for news broadcasts, Country Calendar and other programmes for the New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation.
  • Then Working in the camera department, including a controversial documentary, If You’re in it, You’re in it to the Limit about Hell’s Angels

Peter has also been

  • filming many musicians, including touring overseas bands.
  • freelancing on the hit children’s show Simon Townsend’s Wonder World
  • working as a cameraman and director for drama, documentary and comedy projects

Peter told us it’s really satisfying seeing a new generation keen to enter the industry.  There are so many options available to them now in film, television, games, internet and apps.
