Regan Gough wins EIT and Westpac Awards at SHB Secondary School Sports Awards

November 6, 2013

photoIt was a pleasure to attend the Sport Hawke’s Bay Secondary School Sports Awards on Monday night at the Hawke’s Bay Opera House.

It was a genuine celebration of high school sport with about 500 people attending the event.

  • longstanding sports coaches and managers were recognised for their enduring commitment and service
  • coaches were recognised with a category award
  • and student contribution to secondary school sport was also a focus

The high school students sporting achievements were recognised in different categories

  • Kennedy Park Resort team of the year was won by Woodford House 420 Sailing Pair
  • The Shoe Clinic Female sportsperson of the Year is Hannah Bailey from Woodford House for Rowing
  • And the EIT Male sportsperson of the Year is Regan Gough from Central Hawke’s Bay College for Cycling

Regan also won the Westpac Supreme Award for his achievements

As young people become 15-18 years old, they tend to drop out of sport.  So to see this celebration was a highpoint

Congratulations to Regan Gough – winner of both the EIT and Westpac awards.
