Hawke’s Bay A&P Bayleys Wine Awards

October 30, 2013

The Hawke’s Bay A&P Bayleys Wine Awards were held as part of the 150th A&P Royal Show.

Tim Creagh, an EIT  wine lecturer, coordinates the judging event held at EIT.  He’s well supported by the viticulture and wine science students who act as wine stewards during the judging.

Two EIT students were recognised– Kate Douglas for the Best Student wine and Ross Anderson for the Hawke’s Bay A & P Society Young Vintner Award which is in conjunction with Craggy Range.

DSCN0237The School of Tourism and Hospitality prepare the food under the careful watch and design of designated chefs in the region who are responsible for each course.

This year EIT’s tutor Korey Field was responsible for the dessert – and what an amazing course it was!  The dessert was a white chocolate caramel macadamia mousse cake with a raspberry effervescent chocolate, freeze dried raspberries, Greek yogurt coral sponge, couverture crème, chocolate soil, raspberry gel, candy macadamias and a praline sauce.

Congratulations to the many EIT staff and students who supported the Wine Awards.
