EIT Graduation Ceremonies this Friday

March 23, 2011

EIT has more to celebrate at our upcoming graduation ceremonies, with the number of degree graduates up by more than 30 percent.

Last year, 305 students completed their degrees compared to 233 in 2009 – a 31 percent increase.

Overall, EIT recorded a sixteen percent increase in all qualifications.

The formal graduation ceremonies will be held at Napier’s Municipal Theatre this Friday.

Our guest speaker is Principal Youth Court Judge Andrew Becroft, a strong advocate of youth issues.

Now he describes his role on the bench as “the most challenging, rewarding, demanding, depressing, frustrating and deeply fulfilling job he could ever imagine.

Some interesting statistics relating to all EIT qualifications:

  • 61 percent were female
  • 41 percent were aged under 25
  • The average age was just under 32.
  • A number of 16- years- olds were among those who completed certificate programmes while the oldest at 83, was studying the National Certificate in Computing (Level 3).Just to show you’re never too old to learn!

Come join us on Emerson Street from 1 pm on Friday.

The Drones and Sticks Pipe Band will be leading about 500 graduands, EIT staff and local dignitaries from Clive Square to the Soundshell.
