Toihoukura is now able to offer Te Toi O Nga Rangi-Bachelors Degree in Māori Visual Arts in 2007. This has been a four year process involving many people from various sectors of the community as well as Toihoukura staff and other Tairāwhiti Polytechnic staff who assisted in the academic  process and panel visits.

Accreditation is gained to offer the National Certificate in Adult Literacy Education (Educator). Funding is provided by TEC. Long time literacy advocate Sue Read coordinates this computer assisted learning programme for staff and members of the literacy support community.

 Pene Brown retires from Tairāwhiti Council after being Chair for 11 years.
