EIT is offering a range of exciting Taster Day workshops for high school aged students (15-19 years), a hands-on experience of what studying at EIT could be like.
July Taster Day Workshops
EIT is offering a range of exciting Taster Day workshops for our degree and diploma programmes during the July school holidays.
These FREE sessions are designed to give young people aged 15-19 a hands-on experience of what studying at EIT could be like.
Whether you’re currently in school or not, you’re welcome to attend one (or more!) of these workshops and explore your future study options.
Architectural Technology
Thursday 3rd July, 9am – 12pm
Are you passionate about design, construction, and the built environment?
Join us for an engaging 3-hour taster session and discover a profession where creativity meets technical expertise.
Designed for those considering a future in architectural technology, this immersive session will allow you to explore real projects and experience what a typical day in this dynamic career looks like.
Business Studies
Monday 30th June 9am-12pm
Are you interested in the world of business?
Experience life as a EIT business student during this short taster. You will have the opportunity to discover the dynamic nature of today’s business environment, participate in interactive exercises, and explore basic business concepts.
Computing Systems
Tuesday 8th 9am – 3:30pm & Wednesday 9th of July 9am – 12pm
Ready to dive into the world of computing and artificial intelligence?
Join our Jetracer taster session where you’ll teach a cutting-edge AI car to navigate a large-scale track—no programming skills required!
Connect with fellow enthusiasts, work together to improve your AI car, and join an exciting race!
Creative Practice
Wednesday 2nd July, 9am-3:30pm
Are you a creative? Are you interested in Art, Design, Fashion, Film or Music?
Come along and enjoy our creative challenges that will include a taste of everything we have to offer at IDEAschool.
There will be fun activities including hand drawn badgemaking, textile printing, along with music and percussion, and film effects workshops.
This is your chance to see and experience what we have on offer at EIT IDEAschool.
Environmental Studies
Tuesday 1st July, 9am – 12pm
Are you keen to make a difference for our planet?
Come along to our environmental studies taster session, meet our team, and explore environmental science through hands on laboratory activities. Take a walk and connect with nature at EIT’s Ōtātara Outdoor Learning Centre.
Nursing - Waitlist
Registrations for the Nursing Taster Day are now full. You can still register to be on the waitlist in case a spot becomes available. Please note that priority will be given to Year 13 and year 12 students.

Social Work

Are you passionate about people and looking for a career where you can create real change?
Join us for an engaging 3-hour taster session and explore what it means to be a social worker in Aotearoa New Zealand and beyond.
Our interactive session will introduce you to the values, roles, and impact of social work. Learn how social workers advocate for social justice, empower individuals and whānau, and work across diverse settings to strengthen communities.
Sport and Exercise Science
Wednesday 2nd July, 9:30am – 12:30pm
Are you passionate about health, fitness, and human performance?
Come along to our interactive taster session at EIT. Meet our experienced team, explore the science behind athletic performance, and get hands-on in our Sport Science Lab and dedicated Teaching Gym. Be prepared to move—this session includes practical activities!

Wednesday 2nd July, 12:30-3:30pm
Are you interested in becoming a vet nurse?
Join us for a hands-on taster workshop and find out more about EIT’s vet nursing degree. You’ll have the chance to explore our modern veterinary nursing facilities, learn about the exciting programmes we offer, and try your hand at some essential veterinary nursing skills.
From surgical preparation and instrument handling to first aid, bandaging, and suturing, you’ll get a taste of the practical skills needed in animal healthcare.
Viticulture and Wine Science
Wednesday 2nd July, 9am-3:30pm
Ever wondered what it’s like to be a winemaker?
Here’s your chance to find out! EIT viticulture and wine Taster Days will give you a hands-on experience designed especially for students who are curious about the world of wine science.
You’ll get the chance to:
- Crush and press grapes
- Investigate what wine is in the laboratory
- Learn how yeast works
- Preserve and bottle wine
- Explore the career paths in wine science and viticulture
No experience needed — just bring your curiosity and get ready for a day of fun, discovery, and flavour.
