Tairāwhiti Polytechnic is 25 years old in 2004 and a variety of activities cumulating in a celebration week/month in August is organized by David Scott.

Students and staff from the Catering Section win 2 silver medals at the National Culinary Fair in Auckland in the National Junior Team Skills event.

Four fixed –term positions are advertised for Ruatoria to teach forestry, agriculture, introduction to trades and youth training.
