The Ministry of Works building proposal for the new Senior Technical Division to be erected on the Central School site is approved by the Gisborne City Council.

David Brook is appointed head of the division which is accommodated in a range of old buildings including Central School on a site in the city block bound by Derby, Palmerston and Cobden streets.

The Gisborne City Council with the Hawke’s Bay Education Board and the Department of Education’s consent agreed to register most of the trees on the Central School site to ensure they would be protected during the demolition of the school and future building projects.
