Profile

Tracey (Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Maniapoto) is responsible for the overall management of the Tairāwhiti Campus by establishing strong relationships and partnering with key players in the business community plus with Iwi. This also includes responsibility for operations, regional and community vocational education development commitments and Te Tiriti relationships critical in this role.

Tracey as a passion for supporting Māori education and economic development, and whānau wellbeing. Her priority is empower change through educational achievement.

Prior to joining EIT in 2021 Tracey was Principal Advisor – Strategic Relationships at Te Tūāpapa Kura Kāinga (Ministry of Housing and Urban Development) where she has played a lead role in shaping housing policy and creating a new Māori Housing Strategy.

Other prior roles include a range of senior positions including Central Regional Manager in the Department of Corrections, National Director of the Ministry of Justice, and Chief Executive of Te Runanga O Turanganui A Kiwa.

Tracey was also the Deputy Chief Executive and Acting Chief Executive of the Tairāwhiti Polytechnic from 2005 to early 2008. She holds a Bachelor of Management Studies (Hons), with a focus on strategic management and organisational change.

Tracey is based at the EIT Tairawhiti (Gisborne) campus.
