I was born and raised in South Africa, and after getting married in 2000 we moved to South Korea where we taught English for 6 years. Our boy/girl twins were born there in 2005 and we moved to New Zealand in 2009. Upon moving here, I started my studies in early childhood education. I discovered that I had a real passion for working with tamariki and ensuring the best possible outcomes for them and their whānau. My passion only grew when I embarked on my studies, and inspired and motivated me to complete my Master degree in 2017. I have worked in early childhood centres here in Hawkes Bay since moving here in 2009 in different roles, including centre manager for 2 years in my last role. My aspiration has always been to be a lecturer for the Bachelor of Teaching (ECE), so that I can transfer my passion for the industry to our future teachers, and I feel very privileged and happy to be here! I am now a single mum to my beautiful 16-year old twins and we live in Taradale – our forever home!
