Profile

Senior lecturer in microbiology, Dr Carolyn Russell is programme coordinator for EIT’s Bachelor of Viticulture and Wine Science and Graduate Diplomas in Oenology and Viticulture.  She also assisted in progressing the distance online versions of these programmes.

After gaining a Bachelor in Technology with first class honours in biotechnology and bioprocess engineering, Carolyn worked in biological waste treatment for the New Zealand Dairy Research Institute.

After completing a PhD in genetic engineering and fermentation technology, she launched her career in tertiary education at the University of Ballarat, lecturing in microbiology, biotechnology and food and fermentation technology, managing and delivering short courses in brewing studies and helping develop the Distance Graduate Diploma in Malting and Brewing.
