Profile

Barry is the Postgraduate Wine Business lecturer at EIT and he is currently completing his PhD at  Auckland University of Technology specifically in Sensory and Consumer Science (a focused area in Food Science). For his research at AUT, he focuses on the sensory and flavour perception of Korean rice wine (makgeolli). As part of his PhD, he uses marketing theories and sensory methods throughout his research. He completed his undergraduate degree from the University of Otago in Consumer Food Science (Hons) and also his Master in Business (Finance) at Lincoln University.

His research interest areas include human attitudes, perceptions, and behaviour towards food products, and business management/marketing within the agricultural industry. Before joining EIT, he worked at various companies including Kiwibank and L’Occitane.
