Kia ora. My name is Kristin Leak and I became a Head Teacher at Ōtātara Children’s centre in 2022. I am based in Te Pihinga (our infant and toddler room).
I am a mother to three children, all in their late teens. My connection with Ōtātara started when my own son was attending – he is now 15! While my son was here, I seized the opportunity to study here at EIT and completed my Bachelor of Teaching, completing my practical hours here at Ōtātara as a student kaiako. I was then employed as a qualified kaiako when I graduated and have since become a Head Teacher.
I love the amazing relationships I get to build with tamariki and whānau. The ability to provide tamariki with a great start to their education journey is such a great priviledge.
