Following a strong year 2018, EIT is reporting the largest beginning of year intake in the last five years.
EIT has currently enrolled just over 7500 students, almost 700 more than at the same time in 2018. This is reflected in both international and domestic enrolments.
In particular, EIT also recorded one of the biggest intakes ever of first year degree students, year 13 school leavers included.
The robust growth in student numbers is the result of several factors, says EIT deputy chief executive Mark Oldershaw. “Our programmes are constantly widened to meet the needs of students as well as industries’ demand for well-trained employees.”
Mr Oldershaw highlights EIT’s delivery outreach of programmes into communities and workplaces. “The increase is also a reflection of our flexible study options, part-time, full-time, face to face, online, blended and distance. For example, there are more students studying online this year to date than for the last few years, with a particular demand for business and computing programmes.”
