EIT is pleased to welcome on board two new highly qualified nursing lecturers. Tiara Williams graduated from in EIT in 2013 with a Bachelor of Nursing and completed her postgraduate certificate in Health Science in 2015. During her time at EIT she received the Rapai Pohe Scholarship in 2011. She was accepted into the Tairāwhiti Interprofessional Education (TIPE) programme in 2012.

After her study, Tiara was accepted into the Nursing entrance to practice (NetP) programme and employed with the Hawke’s Bay District Health Board (DHB) from 2013. She has worked in neurology, gastrology, cardiology and general medical during her time with the DHB.

Tiara is of Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāti Rongomaiwahine, Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Te Āti Haunui-a-Pāpārangi descent. Born in Hawke’s Bay and raised in Wellington, she returned to Hawke’s Bay 14 years ago to raise her daughter amongst her whānau. “I’m excited to come back to EIT, to work with my former lecturers, and to empower our upcoming students as EIT as done so with me,” says Tiara.

Tracey MacGregor is the second new team member. With both life and work experience she brings all the attributes to be a great tutor. The mother of six completed her nursing degree in her late 40’s after her last child left home. Until then her jobs always followed her family, but she liked the idea of making a difference for the community.

Once Tracey gained her degree, she worked as a childhealth nurse and as a nurse for older people. Her last position was at the addiction support service Te Ara Marapou in Hastings. Dreaming of being an educator for a long time she is thrilled to be a lecturer at EIT now. “I want to make a change, empower people and be an influence for the future,” says Tracey, who is of Taranaki, Muaupoko, Te Āti Haunui a Pāpārangi, Ngāti Kahungunu descent. “Nursing is not for the fainthearted. We need people with attitude who are willing to advocate for their clients.”
