HB Magpie – EIT Student – Pouri Rakete-Stones

Initially I didn’t know what I wanted to do, whether to work or begin studying. I had a sit down with EIT and talked through some potential options. Going through the classes I’d done through school and looking at my results, we decided on a few papers that I might be interested in. I was quite intrigued by the sound of architectural technology, so I did some further research into it and decided that’s what I’d like to study. When I finish rugby, I had been thinking I’d move into property development so having some drafting / architectural skills would be greatly beneficial for me. Juggling rugby and studies has been quite hard for me. I’ve been called down to Wellington quite a bit for Hurricanes’ development games and I went away to Japan for three weeks with the NZ Universities side. However my tutor Jonathan Pickup helped me understand that rugby was my priority and gave me options on how I could complete assignments around my rugby. In the end, EIT has been a huge help in getting my plan B started and I have been enjoying my time there.
