Green light for post graduate IT programme

January 7, 2013

EIT has NZQA approval to offer the Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology from next year.

The Level 8 diploma will be delivered at the Hawke’s Bay campus using a mix of face-to-face and blended delivery modes.

The programme is expected to attract those with Bachelor degrees in IT or areas such as business, visual arts and science and appropriate IT work experience in a junior or middle management position, and tertiary graduates with appropriate work experience in middle to senior management wanting to improve their skills and gain a higher level qualification.

The programme is designed to produce graduates who can understand and solve the complex applied computing problems commonly experienced in the IT workplace.

Matthew Miller said his digital marketing company Mogul, based in Havelock North, would want staff interested in career development to gain such a qualification.

“It’s a great option having a local provider, so these people don’t have to leave the area to study or undertake distance learning,”

“I would be keen to recruit people who had completed the post graduate diploma for leadership roles,” said Matthew, who is on EIT’s School of Computing’s advisory committee.
