Mark Chapman is a Hawke’s Bay Community College Tutor during 1977-1981 and HOD of Business Studies 1982-1986. At Tairāwhiti Polytechnic he is Deputy Director 1987-1997 and is appointed CE0 in 1998.

Middleton Building, a complex of classrooms, lecture theatre and the International Division is opened and named after the late Rosemary Middleton.
