By the mid 1970s around 1000 adult students are enrolled in the fulltime secretarial course, Day Release Apprentice classes and evening classes at the tertiary division at Boys’ High School, increasing the pressure to establish a separate institution and expand the limited range of opportunities.
Two-thirds of the 68 evening classes run at Boys’ High School are apprenticeship training, trades, secretarial as well as preparation for professional exams. The others are general classes including languages, sewing, upholstery, cooking etc.
