Profile

Barry is a Postgraduate Wine Business lecturer at EIT. He also contributes as a supervisor of student research projects in the BVWSci.

He completed his PhD through the Auckland University of Technology in Sensory and Consumer Science.

His research at AUT focused on the sensory and flavour perception of Korean rice wine (makgeolli). He used marketing theories and sensory methods throughout his research. 

His research interest areas include consumer attitudes, perceptions, and behaviour towards food products, and business management/marketing within the agricultural sector.  

Recent/Current post graduate student projects include: 

– Consumers’ attitude towards purchasing no or low alcoholic (NOLO) wine products.

– Consumers’ familiarity, overall liking, and experience with ethnic cuisines and their compatibility with wine products.

– Consumers’ willingness to purchase and consumption behaviour of organic wine.

– Grape varietal trends and changes in the Hawke’s Bay context.

– Winegrowing land changes in the Hawke’s Bay context.
