Students’ talent to be put on display at EIT IDEAschool showcase

IDEAschool will hold End of Year Celebrations next week.

The talent of students at EIT|Te Pukenga IDEAschool will be on full display at End of Year Celebrations that will showcase their best in fashion, art, design, music and screen production.

The events will be held next week, beginning with a Screen Production Showcase at 6pm on Monday (21 November) at the MTG in Napier. A Music Showcase will be held at the same venue on Tuesday at 6pm. A Fashion Show will be held at 6pm on Thursday at the EIT Boulevard on the EIT|Te Pukenga Hawke’s Bay Campus in Taradale, while an Art and Design Exhibition kicks off at 5.30pm on Friday  (25 November) at IDEAschool on the Hawke’s Bay Campus.

Acting Head of IDEAschool Cherie Freeman says the celebrations were an opportunity for students put the work they have done this year on display.

“Our students have worked very hard, and we are proud to host these End of Year Celebrations to show the talent we have across the spectrum at IDEAschool.”

Svetlana Eliason, Screen Production Programme Coordinator at IDEAschool, says: “Screen Production is holding a special screening at MTG Napier. We are looking forward to showcasing an especially curated programme featuring short films, commercials and documentaries created by screen students of all levels.”

Sarah Terry, Programme Coordinator, Music, at IDEAschool, says: “Tuesday night is a celebration of a group of students—well, a family of students—who’ve put together a collection of original works. A diverse show highlighting each students’ unique musical voice.”

IDEAschool’s Fashion Discipline Leader Cheryl Downie, who is overseeing the fashion show, says: “We are really excited to be showcasing work produced by our fashion diploma and degree students as it’s the first time ever we have presented garments from all three levels. We’re expecting to be blown away by a such a diverse range of designs modelled on the catwalk by friends and family of the fashion students.”

“This event is always popular and a highlight of the end of year IDEAschool festival week and we’re expecting a lot of guests from throughout Hawke’s Bay and beyond.”

Nigel Roberts, IDEAschool’s Programme Coordinator Visual Arts: Bachelor of Creative Practice, says the Art and Design Exhibition will feature outputs from NZ Certificate in Arts and Design (Level 4) and Bachelor of Creative Practice levels 5, 6 & 7 students.

“There will be graphic, product and spatial design work on display, with painting, printing, clay and sculptural pieces vying for the audience’s attention, as well as 2D animation and photography.”

“The students have been hard at work both making their work and preparing the gallery spaces, with truly inspiring creations to be displayed,” he says.
