EIT Lays Down The Welcome Mat

October 14, 2013

Hawke’s Bay high schools will be vying for trophies, cash and spot prizes in automotive and carpentry competitions being held as part of next week’s Information and Enrolment Day at EIT.

Five schools have entered teams for the various activities, which will include building chicken coops, changing tyres, assembling engines and wiring lights.

The competition was launched last year, with Central Hawke’s Bay College winning the Rogers Cup and Tamatea High School the Automotive Challenge Cup.

ITM and Repco are each sponsoring prizes worth $1000.

Information and Enrolment Day is being held on the Hawke’s Bay campus from 9am to 6pm on Thursday, 17 October.

It provides an opportunity for school leavers and other would-be tertiary students to learn about the programmes offered at EIT and talk one-on-one to teaching staff and careers counsellor Eddie Carson about learning opportunities and job outcomes.

It’s also day for firming up decisions on tertiary study and getting to know EIT’s study environment.

Facilities will be accessible, with tours available to see the grounds and amenities.
