Fitness enthusiast Gives Learning a Workout

Midge Braddock’s massage therapy complements her other qualifications.

Maree (Midge) Braddock puts into practice her belief that learning should be a lifelong undertaking. Midge likes helping people maintain their health and fitness through her work. A parttime remedial massage therapist, sports nutritionist and personal trainer, she is also assistant manager at a Hastings
fitness centre.

EIT’s Diploma in Therapeutic and Sports Massage was an obvious choice for study, she says, omplementing her other qualifications. She chose EIT “because it is well recognised throughout New Zealand as a tertiary educator.”

Gaining the diploma has been important to Midge. She says it has given her the training and knowledge to assess clients appropriately and that she is recognised as a professional in her field.

Her advice to anyone considering similar study is to progress to EIT’s diploma programme after completing the certificate.

“Be prepared to work hard as there is a lot of learning to do in the time allocated, but it is all very interesting and relevant. The lecturers are all very knowledgeable in their fields of expertise and very helpful.”
