Pastoral Care Code of Practice
Introduction
The Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021 sets out what education providers must do to ensure the wellbeing and safety of their learners.
The outcomes of the Code are relevant to all staff and to all learners, both international and domestic.
EIT embraces the Code and is committed to meeting the Code outcomes in all of its work and interactions with learners.
EIT reports annually on its compliance with the Code to the New Zealand Qualifications Authority.
Information for Students
Whether you are a domestic or an international learner, full-time or part-time, the Code is there to ensure EIT acts to make you feel safe, well and supported. EIT has staff and mechanisms in place to ensure you feel this in all your learning environments, and in your student accommodation if applicable.
Information for Staff
Whether you interact with learners on a daily basis or only occasionally, you need to be aware of EIT’s obligations under the Code, as you play a role in ensuring learners feel safe, well and supported during their time with us.
Learner-facing staff should familiarise themselves with details of the Code, as they have responsibility to uphold it on a daily basis.
