In the early nineties, Cam Darwen launched his career with a preapprenticeship electrical course at EIT.

He recently came full circle when his company Direct Earth Electrical Ltd won the EIT service professional award in the NZME Hastings City Business Awards.

Three years ago, after various partnerships, Cam established Direct Earth to handle both residential and commercial electrical work.

The EIT-sponsored award, Cam says, has confirmed he’s on the right track. Cam regularly offers EIT electrical students work experience which, he says, provides them with  opportunities for learning on the job while allowing him to screen for future apprentices.
