A chance to upskill brought with it an added bonus for builder Jason Taylor.

The owner and operator of JT’s Building Services is on the cusp of graduating with the supervisor level five course, and while he was there to gain qualifications, one of the best parts of the two year course was the networking between students.

“That was really a bit of a bonus,” he said.

Taylor, who has been in the industry for around 12 years, is already looking to further study with a  level six diploma.

“It can be a bit tricky working your study around you business, but hey, it worked for me. I have really enjoyed it and gained another qualification out of it,” he says.

Hitting the books again was a big call for Taylor, a registered Master Builder who says he hasn’t studied since he left high school.

“But I wanted more qualifications, so it was important.”
