Plant-based cooking is more than just a movement, it’s a way of life. You might live on a plant-based diet, or are looking to add more variety into your meals. Either way, plant-based eating is not only great for you, it could save the world!

This two evening short course introduces you to exciting recipes and gives you a taste of what our one day a week, over 20 weeks, Plant-based Training Scheme is all about.

The taster will introduce you to recipes like:

Day One: Kimchi and Tofu Dumplings with Thai broth.

Day Two: Salted Caramel raw slice.

Barista

Learn about the history of coffee, how to operate and maintain espresso machines, get hands-on practical training for all coffee styles and an introduction to customer service skills.

Students must be 16 years or older.

Festive DIY Food Gifts

Are you stuck for Christmas gifts but love food?  Come along to our EIT Festive workshop on DIY Food Gifts for family and friends. Create your own meaningful gifts from the heart that include sustainable and creative packaging. At the end of each workshop you will have approximately 5 (or more) gifts to takeaway, wrapped ready to give to someone for Christmas, or keep for yourself!  There are three separate workshops – you can attended one, two or all three!

Workshop 1 – Day One:
Great Gifts for males and foodies (like chocolate salami, spices and rubs, sauces).

Workshop 2 – Day Two:
Bee’s wax wraps and items like chocolate bark, granola pouches.

Workshop 3 – Day three:
Pasta – Types, shapes and colours with infused oils, all-in-one baking jars.

Artisan Sourdough

When Master Baker Harald Mauch opened Harald’s Bread World in Napier, he brought a 100-year long, four-generation family history in European baking to Hawke’s Bay.

Using traditional European recipes making a wide range of different sourdoughs and Danishes. Harald’s emphasis is on health; all products are made from natural ingredients.

This three evening artisan bread course will have you baking like Harald in no time. You will produce sourdough baguettes, Danish pastries, potato bread, focaccia bread and a variety of buns.

Enjoy a grazing platter on the first night and light snacks in the following nights.

Bread and Beer

Join us for an exciting new short course where you can combine your love for bread and beer, and further your baking skills using beer bread grains. This course will be led by expert baker Harold Mauch, in association with GodsOwn Brewery.

During this course you will prepare, process and bake different products using beer. These delicious products will include beer bread with grains, German brezeln and cheese sticks, pizza with beer and grains for dinner and curd balls out of the deep fryer for desert.

Bartenders

Learn the principles and practices of bartending, host responsibility and how to serve beer, wine and spirits. Students must be 18 years or older. *This is not the Bar Managers (LCQ) qualification.

After completing the Licence Controllers Qualification (LCQ) you will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 and the responsibilities and requirements for service of alcohol in a licensed premises.

Receive essential training on all things related to food safety, such as hand hygiene, personal hygiene, cleaning, food allergens, potentially hazardous food, preventing cross contamination, and much more.

Upon completion of this certificate you will have gained knowledge and training in your regions Food Safety Bylaws.

This course meets the Napier City Council and Hastings District Council Food Safety Bylaws (Level 1 and 2).
