EIT offers a number of short courses during the year in a wide variety of subjects. EIT also offers various industry training opportunities in a wide range of subject areas. We can tailor training for your workplace and employees. Training can be done at your business or at EIT. Check out the range of options below.

Developing Computing Skills Training Schemes
Computer skills will help you get that job, get that promotion, earn you more money.
Develop your computing skills from home by doing one or all of our computer training schemes – they are free and flexible, you won’t regret it.
If you have little knowledge, skills or experience in computing then these short courses are a great place to start. The courses use the Microsoft Office suite of software to provide you with foundation computing skills essential for employment and future study.
The Training Schemes we offer are:
Basic Excel, Intermediate Excel, Advances Excel, Pivot Tables, Basic Word, Intermediate Word, Basic Powerpoint, Google Drive, Outlook email, Outlook Calendar. MYOB to be confirmed later this year.
Creative Studies
Improve your Sewing Skills
These workshops are practical hands-on sessions on knowing your sewing machine, using an overlocker, understanding commercial patterns, fabrics, grainlines and layouts. Choose a project and complete it under the guidance of an experienced tutor. Bring your own sewing machine in good running order, or use our domestic or industrial machines.
Supply your own fabrics and patterns. You will need your own sewing kit, requirements will be explained on the first night. The minimum age is 16 years.
Screenprinting Workshop Weekend
This workshop introduces practical techniques of screen printing including how to make a screen using light sensitive emulsion and how to screenprint onto paper or a fabric surface. This workshop is suitable for beginners. We provide inks and paper to print on, bring your own tshirts, fabrics etc.

Indesign Nightclass
After editing your images in Photoshop, and designing your logo or images in Illustrator, learn how to use Adobe InDesign to layout text and images to produce your pamphlets, brochures and books.
Students must supply own USB to save work on, min 4GB. The minimum age is 16 years.
Photography Workshop Weekend
Learn the principles and practice of good digital photography – we will cover how to control exposure, camera modes, digital file sizes and composition, with practical exercises to put into practice what is learnt.
Bring your own camera. Students must supply own USB to save work on: min 4GB. The minimum age is 16 years.
Adobe Illustrator Nightclass
An introduction to creating graphics using Adobe Illustrator. This course will show you the fundamentals of vector illustration, which can then be applied to poster, logo, pattern, laser cutting and engraving designs.

Flat Mate Cooking Skills
Heading off flatting next year? Need to learn some key cooking skills for great yummy food on a budget?
EIT Tourism & Hospitality School are running a 2 day cooking course to teach you the basics to survive flatting life. We will look at 3 basic meat cuts and show you how to cut up, prepare and cook great meals that will make you the envy of the flat.
LCQ- Licence Controllers Qualification
By law, every hospitality business that sells alcohol must have a qualified person in charge at all times – this could be you.
After completing the Licence Controllers Qualification (LCQ) you will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 and the responsibilities and requirements for service of alcohol in a licensed premises.

Receive essential training on all things related to food safety, such as hand hygiene, personal hygiene, cleaning, food allergens, potentially hazardous food,

Certificate in Food Safety
This course meets the Napier City Council and the Hastings District Council Food Safety bylaws (Level 1 and 2).
Licence Controllers Qualification

Learn about the history of coffee, how to operate and maintain espresso machines, get hands-on practical training for all coffee styles and an introduction to customer service skills.

Cervical Screening
This competency-based education programme will prepare registered health professionals to be certified as “Approved Smear Takers”. This programme is only appropriate for those registered health professionals working in situations where they have access to taking smears.
Students must complete this programme within 12 months of the start date.
