Experience EITs FREE school holiday workshops.  For Year 11/12/13 school students (or 15-18 years old). You don’t need to be at school to take part.

MODERN BUSINESS

In today’s ultra-competitve world, discover what it takes to be a biz-whiz and how accounting, management and marketing helps companies get ahead.

EARLY CHILDHOOD TEACHING – THE FIRST STEPS
If you are passionate about young children, and their development, this could be for you. Find out how you could take on an incredibly rewarding career as an early childhood teacher.

PRIMARY INDUSTRIES
If you want to get a feel for what a job in the primary industries is all about then join us for a half day of practical workshops.

PRIMARY TEACHING – THE FUN-DAMENTALS
Do you remember your favourite teachers?
Find out the fun-damentals of primary teaching and what makes a great teacher.

STYLING
Lip Style
In this taster workshop you will create a lip balm to take home and learn about the curative properties of the ingredients.

SPORT AND EXERCISE
Sport and Exercise – Teaching games for understanding (TGfU) is one way to get athletes to develop problem solving skills while playing sport that can transfer into other parts of their life. Come to a session and partake in a neuromuscular warm up, TGfU activities, cool down and recovery that
will encourage you to think about your own instructing skills and learning styles.

HAIRDRESSING – TEASE TO PLEASE
Teasing, curling, pinning and shampooing are all essential parts of a hairdressers art. Try your hand at creating hairstyles on our practice mannequins and each other.

DATA AND BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE
Turning data into gold – analytics is changing the world. Choose your dataset and make some discoveries of your own, and see how organisations are using analytics or decisionmaking and strategy development.

COMPUTER PROGRAMMING
Get a taster of programming as you learn how to make your own game for use on all devices.
9am – 12pm

ROBOTICS
Programme and use drones and VEX robots, and affordable Raspberry Pi’s and Arduino’s, to experience and consider automation and the future of work.

SCREEN PRODUCTION
Many of the big movies use the green screen to create their scenes. Experience the magic of the green screen and sample a taste of the movie world.

SOCIAL WORK
Social work is about working with individuals and families to build safe and strong communities. Come along and experience some of the skills you need to be a great social worker.

NURSING
Come and spend time in our simulation lab and learn a few basic nursing skills such as vital signs and injections.

VISUAL ARTS AND DESIGN – CREATING THE HYBRID
It’s time to stretch your imagination and vision!
Your brief is to blend/hybridise two or more differing ‘images’ to compose a new creation of your choice.
9am – 12pm

MAKE-UP – HASTINGS
Learn how to choose and apply foundation correctly and how to create the perfect lip.

BARBERING
Interested in a career in barbering? Come and experience some simple barbering skills in our modern salon.

VET NURSING
Get up close to our animals and learn how to look after them and some basic facts about working in the animal industry.

MAORI STUDIES
Knowledge and understanding Māori language, customs and culture are key to Aotearoa’s history and identity. Come and explore Te Reo Māori through art and games.
9am – 12pm

Introduction to Barista

Learn about the history of coffee, how to operate and maintain espresso machines, and get hands on practical training preparing real espresso beverages.

Get a taste of working in the screen production industry.  You will get practical lessons in camera and sound recording, editing and sound mixing from experienced professionals.

Screenprinting Workshop Weekend

This workshop introduces practical techniques of screen printing including how to make a screen using light sensitive emulsion and how to screenprint onto paper or a fabric surface. This workshop is suitable for beginners. We provide inks and paper to print on, bring your own tshirts, fabrics etc. Tutor: Lisa Feyen The minimum age is 16 years.

Photography Workshop Weekend

Learn the principles and practice of good digital photography – we will cover how to control exposure, camera modes, digital file sizes and composition, with practical exercises to put into practice what is learnt. Bring your own camera. Students must supply own USB to save work on: min 4GB. The minimum age is 16 years.

Junior Chef

This course is for students who are 14 years or older and still attending secondary school. Learn about basic food safety, followed by hands-on instruction in preparing a wide range of items.
