Areas of Teaching

I graduated in 2009 from EIT and took a nursing entry to practice position in the orthopaedic ward with the Hutt Valley District Health Board.  From there I worked in the medical/surgical ward at the Wairarapa District Health Board before taking on a team leader role in a hospital-level care wing in an aged care facility.  Aged care is where I found my true passion in nursing.

In 2015, I completed my Master of Nursing and my research focused on the perceptions of Registered Nurses and General Practitioners of a Nurse Practitioner-led model of care in aged care. Other areas of research that I am interested in focus on how the clinical environment in aged care influences Registered Nurses’ practice, family’s perceptions of care delivery in aged care, and the socio-political factors impacting on aged care in New Zealand.
