Tessa worked in television in Auckland for around 15 years and most of those years were producing and directing documentaries and factual series.  Tessa produced and directed the first six series of Mucking In (and won awards for it) and also directed on the Maori arts programme Kete Aronui.  She produced and directed a documentary on rally driver Possum Bourne (Possum) and another on actor Kevin Smith (Remembering Kev).
