Profile

Professional Statement

Rory lectures in and coordinates the postgraduate courses of EIT’s School of Viticulture and Wine Science. These include Technology and Innovation in the Wine Industry, Sustainability in the Wine Industry, and Global Wine Marketing. He is also completing research on New Zealand’s wine industry in collaboration with partners at Lincoln University.

Rory holds a DPhil from the University of Oxford, awarded for his research on the evolution of the concept of terroir in Burgundy. With a background in both geography and business, he has undertaken further research on value chains, the development of a sense of place, and the interaction of global tourism and local wine offerings in the wine regions of New Zealand. Passionate about wine, he is a member of the Wine Guild of the United Kingdom.
