Rod Chittenden holds a Master in Wine Science with first class honours.  He joined EIT in 2001 after working in winemaking at Corbans and Church Road wineries in Napier.  He previously taught chemistry and mathematics at secondary school level.

At EIT, Rod teaches wine production, sensory and wine science courses.  Invited to present at the American Society of Oenologists Conference in Monterey in 2011, he spoke about current research and collaboration with the Australian Wine Research Institute involving tannin and colour analysis of red wines.

Rod recently travelled to India to explore links between EIT and a horticultural university in a winegrowing area near Bangalore.  His spare-time interests are travelling and scuba diving.
