COVID-19 Student Update 9 June 2020

June 9, 2020

Kia ora koutou

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has announced that Aotearoa/New Zealand will move to Alert Level 1 from Tuesday 9 June.

In line with the Government advice, EIT students and staff can now return to study and work from campus.

Distance learning will continue for some programmes until the end of semester one. Your EIT School or Programme Coordinator will let you know the expectation on your return to campus. If you are not sure, please contact your Programme Secretary.

What is open?

All EIT campuses, facilities and services are now open.

Our Auckland Campus is open to students on Mondays and Tuesdays from 8.30 am until 4.30 pm.

What information do I need to know before returning to campus in Alert Level 1?

There is no requirement for physical distancing. The distancing markers will be removed over the course of this week.

You will no longer be asked to sign into EIT’s contact tracing registers. However, you do need to continue keeping a personal record of your movements. We are currently preparing the EIT QR Codes for the government’s COVID Tracer app. These will be displayed on all EIT Buildings in the next day or so. You can use the QR codes to keep track of where you have been.

Good hygiene practices continue to be a priority. Remember to wash your hands frequently, or use hand sanitiser.  When washing hands, wash with soap and water for 20 seconds.

Please do not come to EIT if you are sick.

Support for EIT learners

To support students who are suffering ongoing hardship due to the impact of COVID-19, EIT continues to make available a hardship grant to support students. For more information regarding this grant, and to apply, please visit myeit.
