COVID-19 – Update for students 21 April 2020

April 21, 2020

Thank you for your support of EIT during COVID-19.  As you well know, we have been at Alert Level 4 for nearly four weeks now. New Zealand will move out of Alert Level 4 lockdown at 11.59pm on Monday 27 April. We are still in Alert Level 4 until we wake up on Tuesday 28 April.

What does this mean for you and EIT?

This new alert level means that for most of us, we will continue to learn and work from home.

The main change in this Alert Level is that we are able to extend from only a home bubble, to include a study/work bubble.  This new bubble must have at a maximum 10 people and must remain a stable group i.e. the group does not change, it must continue to be the same group of 10 people.  The physical distancing requirements must be met in all situations i.e. one metre. Here is a diagram to help explain this

This week we will be preparing the campuses for the Level 3 return.

Hawke’s Bay and Tairāwhiti Campuses and regional learning centres will reopen under level 3 requirements on Tuesday 28 April.  Please do not return to the campuses and regional learning centres until you are advised.

Auckland will continue with online learning, and the campus will remain closed.

EIT also has guidance on what will happen at each of the 4 levels. It is based on information provided by the MoE. This document may need to be updated from time to time as we receive further advice. You can find a copy of the document here

Cleaning

The campuses and regional learning centres have already had a deep clean.  There is detailed information about ongoing cleaning and inspections being undertaken outlined in the hyperlink above under Alert Level 3, Physical Distancing and Hygiene Measures.  Some ablution facilities and campus areas will continue to be closed, as there will be minimal staff and students using the campuses and centres.  Of course, we will continue to have some facilities open where students are learning.

When can I return to my learning place?

Please wait to hear from your Programme Coordinator/School before returning to your learning place.

Questions?

If you have any queries, please email covid19@eit.ac.nz.

Thank you for your ongoing support in these difficult times.

Keep safe.
