An Open Letter to our Tairāwhiti Community

July 13, 2019

In mid-February this year, the government announced the Review of Vocational Education (RoVE). The proposal to merge New Zealand’s Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics into a single national body has caused some uncertainty amongst students, employers and our communities.

We can assure you however that EIT will continue to be here, providing high quality educational and training opportunities for our communities. EIT has been and always will be a strong anchor for the East Coast and Hawke’s Bay.

It is also important to know that our graduands will graduate with an EIT-branded qualification. EIT is a Category 1 tertiary provider, having been ranked by NZQA as highly confident in both education performance and self-assessment. This is the highest recognition that NZQA can award a tertiary education provider.

As an EIT student, you will get the support you need to succeed in your aspirations. Results for EIT’s educational performance indicators have just been released and we are excited that at this stage we have produced our strongest ever results. In 2018 we had more students enrolled at EIT than any other year in our history. 2019 enrolments have also started strongly.

If you have any concerns about the future of vocational and degree/post graduate study through EIT please do not hesitate to contact us directly. We have the staff who can talk you through your education and training options to meet your needs and ambitions.

Thank you for your support over the last 40-plus years. EIT has a proud tradition and we look forward to serving the communities of Tairāwhiti and Hawke’s Bay in the future.
