Bragato scholarship winners Nicola Geronazzo and Alexandra Peter met up in Hawke’s Bay.

This year’s New Zealand Bragato exchange student Alexandra Peter will be exploring Italian vineyards and wineries over the northern winter.

The second-year Bachelor of Wine Science and Bachelor of Viticulture student is looking forward to her first experience of old world winemaking.

On his four-week visit here, Italian Bragato exchange scholar Nicola Geronazzo was particularly taken with the different techniques employed by the New Zealand industry.

“The New Zealand wines are interesting and different,” he said. I have tasted some very very good wines and met some amazing winemakers.”

Nicola’s family operates a vineyard and winery in Conegliano, a region in Italy’s northwest celebrated for its premium prosecco wines. The 26-year-old visited Gisborne, Central Otago and Marlborough as well as the Hawke’s Bay wine region.
