As the Eastern Police District gears up to take on an additional 68 police officers over the next four years, EIT is offering a course for locals interested in being included in the new intakes.

Co-designed by EIT and Gisborne Police, the 17-week Certificate in Preparation for Law Enforcement prepares students for Police College, entry into the Defence Forces and positions in security and Corrections.

The boost in Police numbers will result in 16 percent more staff for the Eastern District. Currently the district is served by 423 officers.

The certificate programme is running this semester in both Gisborne and Hawke’s bay.
